Towards CO2 neutrality

RoadPlates.be has of course a heart for the planet. We are making great efforts to minimise and neutralise eventually our ecological footprint completely. This ranges from the transition to clean energy and new ways to reduce our consumption to optimised water management and encouraging climate initiatives and biodiversity.

PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED
RAINWATER STORAGE

Rainwater is reused to the maximum extent. We currently collect up to 120,000 litres for the optimisation of our business processes. Thanks to a new underground rainwater buffer tank, that volume will increase to 1,000,000 litres in the future.

PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED
NATURAL DRAINAGE

To avoid flooding, we have constructed central infiltrating buffer trenches. This allows rainwater to gradually drain and infiltrate. In addition, precast Stelcon concrete floor slabs with a joint were placed on a draining sand bed so that water naturally infiltrates there too.

PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED
SUSTAINABLE CLEANING

Environmentally conscious water management allows sustainable cleaning of steel road plates. This used to be done only manually by high-pressure cleaners, today largely with automated plate-scrapers. The result: no water consumption, no sludge generation.

PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED
SOLAR ENERGY

On our roof, there are 720 solar panels with a peak capacity of 266 kW and  277 solar panels with a peak capacity of 177 kW.

EXPECTED
BATTERY STORAGE

We are planning the installation of a mega battery. This will allow us to optimise car consumption of our green generated power.

EXPECTED
LARGE KWS SEPARATOR

A KWS separator prevents the release of hydrocarbons and sludge in wastewater. By building a new, larger KWS separator with coalescence filter and attached sludge trap, we are making that process even more efficient.

EXPECTED
ELECTRIFICATION

A major investment programme is currently underway for the thorough electrification of our buildings and vehicle fleet. This ranges from the exclusive use of LED lighting and electric suction cups to charging stations for electric cars, forklifts and bicycles.

EXPECTED
GREEN WORKING ENVIRONMENT

We allow nature to flourish. Both inside and outside. Industrial and residential zones are separated via a green buffer of about 1,500 m². Our offices will soon have a green wall. After optimising heat and sound insulation, our building will be topped with a 250 m² green roof.

EXPECTED
ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

We optimise our energy consumption through a modular management system. Based on real-time dating and reporting, it is possible to monitor energy flows and control them intelligently. In this way, we can maximise car consumption and further minimise our CO2 emissions.

DUE IN 2024
BUSINESS FOREST

Deforestation remains one of the biggest threats to our planet. Natural solutions are crucial to meeting global climate goals. By 2024, Flanders plans to create 4,000 ha of additional forest as CO2 offsetting. We are committed to acquiring our own business forest.

WHAT WE STAND FOR
Our manifesto
01
Quality

We only work with products of the highest quality. Moreover, steel road plates are cleaned and if necessary rolled as standard, so you can work safely with flat, clean materials.

02
PROFESSIONALISM

The strictest requirements apply in construction. Through thorough advice, a wide range of top products and excellent logistics, we help you work to the highest standards.

03
TEAMWORK

We are a family business in the broadest sense of the term. Every project revolves around teamwork. Between our employees, but also with customers and partners. Everyone is part of our story.

04
SUSTAINABILITY

Our planet is crying out for help. We continuously invest in environmentally conscious applications and technologies. This ranges from solar panels, green roofs and a mega-battery to ecological plate cleaning techniques.
